When using transfer stickers, simply apply the entire sticker to the target surface and then peel off the backing paper. This way, the pattern will remain on the target surface, while the transfer film will be removed, revealing a clear and complete pattern.

Transfer materials are typically divided into two categories: paper and film. Paper transfer paper has a certain level of transparency, with adhesive on the back, and its viscosity can be classified as high, medium, or low according to requirements. In addition to selecting the right materials and adhesives, the quality of the print file is also a key factor in determining the quality of the transfer stickers. It is best to use vector graphics for car decal files; if that is not possible, high-resolution raster images are acceptable, but raster formats are not suitable for small text. Because screen printing produces relatively coarse dots, small text printed using CMYK registration results in rough edges with visible dot patterns. This causes the small text to appear smudged. Therefore, even if you are using a high-resolution image format, it is best to use vector graphics for small text.

What file formats do you accept for custom car stickers?

We accept a variety of file formats to accommodate your printing needs:

If possible, we strongly recommend using vector files, as they are relatively simple and convenient to process during prepress and can produce clear, high-quality vehicle decals with precise die-cutting results.

What artwork resolution is required?

Vector files are inherently high-resolution, but here we are primarily discussing bitmap files, such as JPG, PNG, PSD, and other formats. These files must meet the resolution requirements for actual print size, with a minimum of 300 DPI. Printing uses the CMYK color mode, not RGB. Low-resolution images may result in blurry or jagged (pixelated) print output.

Do I need to convert fonts to outlines?

Yes, because font settings vary across different countries and computers, and the fonts required for design differ as well. To avoid font compatibility issues, we recommend converting the text in your design file to outlines (curves) first.

If the text is not converted to outlines, opening the file will result in a font error message, and the text will be replaced with other fonts available on the computer. If this happens, the client’s original design will appear altered. Therefore, please ensure the design file is converted to outlines before sending it to us.

If you are unsure how to convert text to outlines, you may also provide us with the fonts used in the design file. We will install them on our computer, ensuring the fonts remain unchanged when the file is opened.

Should I include bleed in my design?

Yes, bleed must be added. If the file is a vector file, it is not necessary to add bleed because we can add it for you. However, if the file is a bitmap (image format), bleed must be added. Since images are fixed in size and cannot be enlarged without distorting the design, bleed is required for bitmap files.

The bleed area for small stickers is 3 mm.
The bleed area for large transfer stickers is 3–5 mm.
A proper bleed area ensures precise die-cutting and prevents white edges from appearing.

What color mode should be used?

When printing transfer stickers, the CMYK color mode is used first and foremost because the printed result matches the actual file. RGB is a color mode used for on-screen display; it generally appears much more vivid than the actual colors and does not match the printed result, so CMYK is required for printing.

If you have specific requirements for color accuracy, we recommend providing a PANTONE color code so we can print using spot colors.

Can you help create artwork for transfer stickers?

Can I receive a proof before mass production?

Of course. Before going to press, we will adjust the files according to your design and provide you with a digital proof for your approval.

The digital proof includes the design content, colors, and dimensions, and must also meet printing requirements—such as whether there is a bleed area, if the font size is too small, if the image resolution is sufficient, and if spot colors are properly registered.

Providing digital proof helps prevent errors between the client and the printing company, making it the best way to reduce production costs.

Design: First, you need a design draft, which must be a vector-format cutting file.

Cutting: Import the cutting file into the software of a cutting or engraving machine. Check the lines in the cutting file for breaks, distortions, small curves, or joints; make careful adjustments as needed. Once the lines are confirmed to be correct, proceed with cutting.

Weeding: After cutting is complete, manually remove any excess material from around or inside the design.

Transfer Tape: Next, carefully check whether the design is complete—ensuring there is no excess or missing content. Once confirmed, clean any dust from the surface, apply transfer paper or transfer film, and press down firmly on the entire sticker once. The transfer paper or film holds the individual letters, images, and other elements together, preparing them for transfer.

Die Cut: Use a die-cutting machine or a craft knife to cut out the individual stickers from the composite sheet, or trim away the excess material around each individual sticker.

Application: Determine the area where the sticker will be applied, clean the surface, spray a little water or adhesive solution, then peel off the backing paper of the transfer sticker. Carefully apply the sticker to the surface. Once the position is confirmed, wait for the water to dry, then peel off the transfer paper or film, leaving the sticker design on the surface.

Do Transfer Stickers Leave Adhesive Residue?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no—it mainly depends on the type of adhesive, the surface being applied to, the temperature, the duration of application, and the removal method.

If you use a removable adhesive for a short period and remove it properly, it won’t leave any residue. However, if the sticker is left on longer than the adhesive’s lifespan, there will be some residue around the edges.

With long-term use of permanent adhesives, residue will inevitably remain whenever the sticker is removed, regardless of how long it has been in place. However, if the sticker is made from professional-grade automotive material, the residue can be easily removed with alcohol. For adhesives used on non-automotive materials, you’ll need to select an appropriate adhesive remover based on the specific type of adhesive.

Different materials have specific requirements for print colors. For example, printing spot colors on reflective materials will obscure the material’s surface reflective effect. Therefore, please specify which areas should be reflective and which should not—we will print according to your requirements.

What Is the Minimum Order Quantity for Transfer Stickers?

The minimum order quantity depends on the material, adhesive, color, size, and production method.

For white and black vinyl and transfer stickers that we keep in stock, the minimum order quantity is 1–10 pieces. For custom colors or special materials, the minimum order quantity is approximately 100–500 pieces.

How Are Custom Transfer Stickers Made?

The production process for transfer stickers is as follows:

  • Design: Review the client’s files, add a 3MM bleed, and convert the die-cut lines to vector format

  • Printing: Print using PANTONE spot colors or CMYK colors according to the design artwork.
